Hello, Gateway Pointe Families!

I am excited to continue serving the Higley community in a new role as Assistant Principal at Gateway Pointe Elementary. Over the past month, I have had the opportunity to begin working alongside Principal Kaity Harris and the Gateway Pointe staff, and I have already been inspired by the welcoming culture, dedicated educators, and strong sense of community that make this such a special place.

I have spent more than 20 years serving students and families in the Higley Unified School District, first as a high school English teacher, then as a Dean of Students, and most recently as the Assistant Director of Alternative Programs and Principal of Higley Virtual Academy. Throughout my career, I have been committed to supporting students, building positive relationships, and helping schools create environments where every child can thrive.

This transition is especially meaningful because I already have connections within the Gateway Pointe community. Over the years, I have had the unique privilege of teaching members of our staff, as well as their children. Those relationships remind me how important it is to build lasting partnerships with students, families, and staff.

I am genuinely excited to begin this new chapter. I look forward to being part of a school environment filled with curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, and the joy of learning. One of the things I love most about working with children is their willingness to ask questions, explore new ideas, and approach each day with excitement and wonder.

As a leader, I strive to be fair, honest, and approachable. I believe every decision should be guided by what is best for students. Ensuring that every student feels safe, connected, and cared for will always be one of my highest priorities. I am committed to fostering a culture of belonging where all students and families feel valued, respected, and supported, and I look forward to learning from and celebrating the many experiences, cultures, and perspectives that enrich our school community.

I also believe strong schools are built through collaboration. Families, staff, and students each play an important role in a child's success, and I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year. You can expect to see me regularly in classrooms, hallways, at school events, and during arrival and dismissal as I get to know our students and families.

On a personal note, my husband and I have two children who graduated from Higley schools and are now attending college. We also have two dogs, Beau and Sadie. In my free time, I enjoy puzzles, traveling with my family, and relaxing with a good Netflix series.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Gateway Pointe community and excited for the year ahead. I look forward to getting to know each of you. Please don't hesitate to introduce yourself when you see me on campus.
