What is Title I?

What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program designated to provide instruction for children who need extra academic support. The goals of Title I are to help children succeed in the regular classroom and improve achievement in reading and math. The program provides children with the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to meet the highest standards expected of all children. Gateway Pointe is currently receiving Title I dollars to provide reading and math support with resources such as instructional assistance, academic materials and manipulatives, tutoring, summer school, and Family Engagement Events.

How are we funded?

Title I money is distributed based on a school’s percentage of free and reduced lunch recipients. For every child who qualifies for "Free and Reduced Lunch", the state provides grant money to ensure all students have the opportunity to meet high and challenging academic standards.

Each year we ask our Gateway Families to complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application. Only one application per family needs to be completed. If you would like a hard copy, please request one at the front office or from our Title 1 Coordinator.  All information is kept confidential.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our Title 1 Coordinator, Jeanine Lucchese, jeanine.lucchese@husd.org or 480.279.7776.
